MITTEN TREE: Once again this Christmas Season the Sunday School Classes of Hughesville Baptist Church are sponsoring a “Mitten Tree” that was placed in the Berger Activity Center for the holiday season. Anyone wishing to donate gloves, hats, scarves, mittens, etc. to needy people in our area communities are asked to place your items on the “Mitten Tree”. As in the past, purchased, hand crocheted or knitted items are always appreciated.

HOMECOMING 2008 On September 14, the Hughesville Baptist Church celebrated their 118th anniversary with a Homecoming service and banquet. Pastor Jim Berger, of Cape Island Baptist Church, of Cape May, New Jersey, brought the morning’s message. The banquet was highlighted by the announcement from Pastor Tom Brokaw that, by action of the Trustees, the Family Activity Center had been renamed in honor of Pastor Bob and Eileen Berger. Pastor Bob served as pastor of the Hughesville Baptist Church from 1951 until 1986. Since 1986, Pastor Bob and Eileen have continued to serve the church in a variety of ways.
In addition, “prizes” were given out to various people, including the oldest attending (Wendell Taggart, 98 years old!) and to the person who traveled the farthest (Sandy Hughes, from Las Vegas, Nevada!).
