WORSHIP WORKSHOP
On Saturday, November 15th, a Worship Workshop was held at the Hughesville Baptist Church. The workshop was lead by church pastor Rev. Tom Brokaw and Area Ministers, Rev. Richcard McIntyre and Rev. Mark Mahserjian-Smith. The workshop was a follow up event as the church family participated in a Growing Vital Congregations workshop earlier this year. The goal of the workshop was to provide basic information regarding worship from a Biblical perspective as well as provide the congregation an opportunity to consider how to strengthen its current worship services. The event was both well attended and productive.
HOMECOMING 2008
On September 14, the Hughesville Baptist Church celebrated their 118th anniversary with a Homecoming service and banquet. Pastor Jim Berger, of Cape Island Baptist Church, of Cape May, New Jersey, brought the morning’s message. The banquet was highlighted by the announcement from Pastor Tom Brokaw that, by action of the Trustees, the Family Activity Center had been renamed in honor of Pastor Bob and Eileen Berger. Pastor Bob served as pastor of the Hughesville Baptist Church from 1951 until 1986. Since 1986, Pastor Bob and Eileen have continued to serve the church in a variety of ways.
In addition, “prizes” were given out to various people, including the oldest attending (Wendell Taggart, 98 years old!) and to the person who traveled the farthest (Sandy Hughes, from Las Vegas, Nevada!).
